Did you know this ? CNC = Computer Numeric Control

Welcome to the part of our website where the curtain will finally be pulled back to reveal the little man truly is just pulling a few levers. Here you will find CNC can be an easy, fun and enjoyable way to enhance your existing hobby or next invention be it woodworking, model making, wood carving, rocketry, boat building, steel sculpture or aero modeling. You name it! Just about any hobby, craft or creative expression can benefit from the use of Robotic CNC machine tools and an understanding of the basic principals of CNC.

We get asked this question quite a lot:

You have some interesting items here and before I can consider them I need to get some idea of the final size & how much, and what size material that is needed for these projects

All our projects and patterns come in several scales both metric and imperial these are all included when you purchase a product
And are in DXF or EPS format that is perfect for your CAM or tool path software .They all come with a full color assembly Guide as well in PDF format.

You can cut them from whatever material you like
We have seen MDF, plywood ,acrylic and even cardboard used

Most come in  four scales all in at least three . By that we mean they will cut using a sheet of material the thickness of the stated scale in the files.

Usually 1/8th    ¼ and ½ inch
Or 3mm 6mm and 12mm for metric

The amount of material you use depends on  what scale you are cutting in
The larger the scale the more material you will use.
Projects vary in complexity and how many parts are required to be cut so they vary greatly in how much material you might use
but mostly you be able to cut a puzzle like a Dinosaur at 1/8th using about 24 X 24 sheet of ply

WHAT IS A DOGBONE FILLET ?

makeCNC Products come with two types of files.

Laser ready and CNC router ready why ? whats the difference ? let me explain

when you are making projects for your CNC router and cutting those projects out of sheet materials like plywood or acrylic or MDF you will have noticed that when your router bit comes to the inside corner of a vector or drawing you have made ,it leaves a small amount of material in the corner due to the radius of the router bit or tool you are using the picture below illustrates this.

TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR DOGBONE FILLETS FOR ROUTER CUTTING YOU MUST USE A BIT HALF THE SLOTS SIZE OF THE SCALE YOU ARE CUTTING
