The Ford Truck
Ford Trucks have been the most consistent best selling vehicle for the Ford
Motor Company. Since the F-150 Series pickup debuted in 1976 it has
outperformed every American-made truck. Ford offers an extensive range of
trucks from the compact Ford Ranger to the F-150, 250 and 350 series, which
are all considered light-duty trucks. The Ford truck was formally introduced
in 192 after more than 20 years of Henry Ford watching owners cut up their
Model T's for work duty. Ford has sold reliable light-duty trucks for more than
three-quarters of a century. The Ford truck is identified with its "Ford"
nameplate against a blue oval backdrop. Trucks are offered in half-, three-
quarter- and one-ton models. Today's models are offered as the regular cab,
extended cab and the four-door Super cab. The F-100 model debuted in 1953 with
an all-new design featuring a wraparound windshield, a more roomy cab and a more
rounded hood and fenders. It was the best-selling vehicle in the United States
for 24 years, currently (2007) the best selling truck for 34 years, and the best
selling vehicle in Canada, though this does not include combined sales of GM
pickup trucks. In the tenth generation of the F-series, the F-250 and the F-350
changed body style in 1998 and joined the Super Duty series. During the post-World
War II era, smaller Canadian rural communities had access to either a Ford dealer
or a Lincoln-Mercury-Meteor dealer but never both. The Ford F-150 has won
numerous awards including Motor Trend 2009 Truck of the Year Award and the "Best
